As Glamorous as Eva!

A different post now, with several pages from a 1960’s lingerie catalogue showing off ‘Scandalous lingerie from Estelle Glamour Wear’, which on looking through the rather risque images below is just the 1960’s version of Ann Summers today! But the real reason for the post is it features our unknown mysterious Blonde model from this post in some rather sexy and provocative outfits. I think my favourite of them all though must be the ‘Miranda’  the provocative sleep skin-suit for those intimate hours, with novel crotch opening! enough said!

Secondly, I have a name for our blonde beauty as she’s been identified by another source as Eva Nieman, plus I have several new 35mm colour slides of her. So another model named or at least with a name and I must admit I’ve also taken quite a fancy to Eva as well!

Finally thanks must go to both Paul from Firebird Records for the copy of the catalogue and Simon from Surplus*watch who provide the new slides of Eva and the name, along with PhilD 🙂

  1. Estelle was a shop in Walthamstow High Street in East London. I lived in nearby Chingford and on Saturday afternoons my mates and I would go to the market which ran the entire length of the High Street. Estelle’s window displays were tamer than the catalogue, but I remember that just the sight of the place was enough to reduce one of my girlfriends to helpless giggles.

Nearby was a shop called Stanley’s Surgical Stores, a sort of early sex shop: alongside the trusses and pile ointment that graced their windows were vibrators – then described as personal massagers. It was a favourite place to buy condoms, I recall.

There also was a newsagent in that area where a back room was filled with Kamera, Spiick, Span, etc., as well as “glamour” movies.

    Educational place was Walthamstow.

    • Thanks Jazzfan and that’s a great insight into the background of Estelle. I love how my posting some of these more obscure things evokes such memories from you guys.

  2. Thanks for the pictures but on this occasion, it was the write up, that got my attention and brought a flood of memories back. The bit I am referring to is the reference to ” Estelle “. This company used to advertise in the Sunday newspapers. I wont say tabloids as they were mostly all broadsheet in those days, but in particular the News of the World, in the days when it was worth reading. It was only a small ad but tucked away in the mail order portion towards the back of the paper, along with hernia supports and the like. Having said that, the Estelle ad was quite risqué for the day although only artistic and not actually a photograph, but depicted a woman in a basque complimented with stockings and suspenders. Doesn’t sound much be todays standards but at my tender age as I was then, certainly something to look forward to. ( As well as Tit Bits and Reveille ).
