June on Glass – Strike a Pose! (Original)

The sixth shot from the set of images taken of June in the studio on glass photographic plates (12th August, 1960). This wonderful shot shows June sat striking a pose very similar to the ‘Vogue’ shot by Madonna, but with even less clothes on! Another very clean, crisp uncensored shot of June and I never tire of this set of images of her, with more still to come.

June on Glass, Box 1 Plate No.5 – An Open View (Original)

The fifth shot of June converted by John from a set of original glass photographic plates taken by Leslie Bainbridge in 1960 (12th August).

This is again an intimate and open shot of June, as it clearly shows her smooth nether region and protruding labia. There are other uncensored shots of June in her early career, but most offer a front view and don’t show the detail as in this shot. A very open bodied pose of June half kneeling with her arms above her, but such a pose seems to exaggerate and pronounce June’s labia in this shot, but never makes the shot seem anything other than artistic.  A stunningly intimate pose from June and as you can see the cropped version (top) and original (bottom) are very similar with very little cropping required.

June on Glass – Junoesque Curves (Original)

What a view! A nude June kneeling legs apart with her back half tilted away from the camera, thus giving us a perfect view of her wonderful ass and a glimpse of boob in the same shot! An original scan from John’s collection, from his second box of glass plates of June taken in 1960. So many different lines and curves to admire in this restored shot.  This is plate No.11 from box 2 dated 20th September 1960 and taken by Leslie Bainbridge.

And yes ‘Junoesque’ is a real word!

June on Glass, Box 1 Plate No.4 – An Intimate Study (Original)

The fourth shot of June converted by John from a set of original glass photographic plates taken by Leslie Bainbridge in 1960 (12th August).

This has to be one of the more intimate shots of June I’ve seen, as it clearly shows her smooth nether region and protruding labia. There are other uncensored shots of June in her early career, but most offer a front view and don’t show the detail as in this shot.  Likewise later in her career she has a more natural look that hides the labia, which is an erotic look in itself. This view of her with no hair just seems so much more intimate and not a view we often see, either by the way June has posed or at the hand of the retouchers! A stunningly intimate pose from June!

June on Glass – Box 1, Plate No.2 (Original)

The second shot of June from the first box (12th August, 1960) of photographic glass plates scanned by John. All of these shots show a naked June posing in various potions for the camera and this shot is described on the box as ‘Kneeling on knees front hands under chin’. A beautiful clean shot showing June’s body at it’s best and completely untouched by censors!

Again, below I have a print from the same glass plate showing the ‘mark-up’ of the shot for publication or printing. I don’t recall seeing any of these being published though?

June on Glass – Box 2, Plate No.2 (Original)

I’m slowly working through the scans of June from John taken from the photographic glass plates! This shot is the second plate from the box dated September 1960 and the description of June’s pose can be seen here. Again with these shots I also have a print of the same shot, but marked up with the cropped details (from Minimunster) and I will publish those anon.

June on Glass – Box 2, Plate No.1 (Originals)

More of June posing Nude from the second set of glass photographic plates scanned by John W. This second set also includes 16 shots of June in various poses taken a month later than the first box (20th September 1960) and the box again lists each pose June did.

According to the list this is the first shot described on the box as ‘Kneeling one knee 3/4 view leaning on hands.’ Again, the original glass shot was a lot wider than the image above, which you can see below and again I’ve included the original marked up print showing how they wanted the shot to look for publication.

The marked up prints come from Minimunster and on looking, although from the original glass plates seemed to have become separated from the plates and numbered differently? Anyway hope you like my two cleaned up versions, one directly from the glass, the other the cropped version 🙂

June on Glass – Behind The Scenes (Original)

As you will have seen in this post, John recently sent me a set of scans of June taken from glass photographic plates and that was the first image I had restored and published from the set. This post now gives you some more details of the fantastic set of images that John sent me, plus some information behind the set. John purchased two sets of photographic glass plates of June from a seller on eBay and they were sent in the original box with a description of each plate written on the box.

As you can see there are details about the model (June), the date of the shoot and then the glass plates listed with a description of the pose. The first interesting point is June’s apparent age on the box, showing her as 21 years old in 1960, which according to her date of birth isn’t quite right! If these were taken on 20th August 1960, she would actually have been 20 not 21, so was this a mistake or did she have to be 21 to have the photo’s taken, so a little white lie?

Also included in the box was a close up print of June wearing a necklace with the  image ‘marked up’ in red. So one assumes that this was the intended crop of the shot for printing or publication? I’ve included a scan of the ‘mark-up’ as well with some scratches removed, but otherwise left as printed.

I’ve included the original scan of this glass plate from John, which is No.1 on the box – Portrait (Half) with necklace. Again I’ve restored the image from the original glass scan, as it was very dark.

Finally I then restored and cropped the image as it was intended in the ‘mark-up’ for publication, which was the shot in my first post here

This is the first box of 16 glass plates from John and I have another set of 16 to edit and publish as well, so will do those soon. Another funny coincidence to this set, was that prior to John sending the scans through to me a few weeks before Minimunster had sent me some scans of 6 contact sheets she had of June. When I saw John’s scans I knew they looked familiar and looking back found the contact sheets, which on checking are all prints from John’s glass plates and all marked up with the intended crop for publication. I have small copies fo the contact sheets, but have asked Mini for larger scans so I can add them to this collection of shots for completeness.

Enjoy!
