As promised, June Palmer from the pages of Girl Illustrated Vol.4 No.37 (1970). The magazine shows three monochrome pictures, where she is shown wearing unzipped trousers and has shoulder length hair. The single colour shot appears to be an older photograph. GI states that she is only rarely modelling at the time, but has returned to the pages by popular request. This would tie in with the published date of 1970 and JP’s ‘retirement’ from public modelling, until her re-appearance in 1977.
Another June Palmer image, this time from an unknown magazine and I’m not sure if this was the only image or part of a set/article? The front door of Ewhurst can be seen in the background.
It feels like a bit of a June Palmer day, not that there is anything wrong with that! Another coloured version of June Palmer from my friend Oldiznewagain over on Tumblr and it always amazes me how good he gets the skin tones on these!
The original comes from Girl Illustrated magazine published in 1970 and is part of a set of 4 images and I’ll be publishing the full set of images later.
June Wilkinson sporting some nice balloons and tassels for Fiesta Spring Special (1957)
Five beautiful shots of Dawn Gayson (Dawn Grayson) from Girls of the World No.1 The accompanying text read:
‘We seriously consider that beautiful Dawn Gayson fully earns the title ‘Special Girl of the World’. Not only is she something special, but she has travelled all over the globe. Born in Scandinavia, not far from where these shots were taken, Dawn now lives in London. Her flame-coloured hair can be seen to full advantage on the back cover of this magazine.’ (below)
A bit of creative writing above on the facts, but definitely special!
Several shots of Eve Eden from a magazine shoot, which I’ve not yet been able to identify. The location of the shots is easier to pinpoint as it’s outside the front of Ewhurst Manor and gardens.
Found the original it comes from Carnival (August 1965)
The Full Dawn Grayson Photo Set From Escapade Vol.10 No.5 (August 1965)
Following on from my post ‘Well I Never Knew That!’ that reveals the real name of the gorgeous Dawn Grayson, plus comments that she went to America, I found this little set from Spick No.232, dated March 1973. As well as featuring several photographs of DG posing in various stages of undress to expose her stockings and underwear, it also gave an update on her whereabouts
. According to the short text DG moved to America with her husband a year before this article, as he had a highly paid position in electronics
. So that would mean they moved to America in early 1972, where she continued her modelling and blossoming film career?
I wonder what happened beyond that point? Anyway as I find these little titbits I’ll add them to her profile page, but with a discretionary word of caution that these magazines liked to embellish on the truth when it came to the details of the models. So, believe what you will!
