I have just discovered your site and am having a look around - very interesting indeed - Well Done!
ReplyDeleteI am both fascinated and intrigued by the film clip "A chance Encounter With June Palmer". So very, very interesting and, indeed, so very poignant. Can you tell me anything about how you came by it, or anything at all about it? Presumably it is part of a longer film circa 1959? Not ony a glimpse of an utterly vanished world, but a rare chance to see JP in an everyday context!
Regards
Alex

Thanks Alex and glad you like the site as it's a real labour of love for me! As to the JP video, I came about it by chance on You-tube as well and was intrigued by it. So unfortunately I cannot shed much more light on it's origin, other than it is a longer film and seems to be a family film taken by the owner of the camera shop in the video in London in the 1950's. It gives a real insight into that time, but what JP was doing in the video or at that camera shop I have no clue!
DeleteGreat site. Would love to see Julie Collins and Solo 51 if its possible.
ReplyDeleteThanks and I've got Julie on the cover of Solo No.51, but rather scarce on other photo's but I'll have a dig around and see what I can find :)
DeleteReferring to the June Palmer video. Would the lady who is with June outside the camera shop be the owner of Ewhurst ?
ReplyDeleteHi Phil,
DeleteShe looks similar, but no they are different people. The woman in the video is the wife of the camera shop owner, who used to rent out a studio to June above the shop. I've spoken to the son who published the video who confirmed the details and background to the video :)

These UK-girls are to my mind the prettiest in the world. And they bravely shared their beauty, generously.
ReplyDeleteCensorship made them look like statues, but now and then I remember them showing what the french call, the divine slot.
To my mind this is as pretty as their face and lips!
Give my highest regards and my respect to all those women from the 50 and 60:ies. I will always admire them, bravely they showed their beauaty. Certainly it made many men and women globally happy. A piece of art are these women, and also I feel that they also have other high qualities than appearance. Wish I could meet some of them, just to talk, whatever.
