In Focus by Harrison Marks

‘In Focus’ was another Kamera style pocketbook that Kamera Publications launched in 1957. As far as I can ascertain there were 21 issues produced, with the final issue being published sometime in 1964. The content and images used are again very similar to that of Kamera, with photo’s taken of the models used across both publications. There are a lot of well known models used, including early Pamela Green/Rita Landre shots, but also a few more unknown models appearing.

Listed below are covers of all editions that I currently have in my collection (Thanks to Firebird London), but you will notice that No.1, No.16 and No.19 are missing, so if anyone has a decent large copy of those I’d appreciate a copy? You will also notice some familiar models and figures appearing on the covers and I can name all but a few. So, again if anyone knows who the models are on No.8, 10, 12, 17 and No.20 please do let me know.

Other Harrison Marks Publications

There were many lesser known Harrison Marks’ publications out there from the 1950’s onwards. However, none of these enjoyed the success of Kamera or Solo. Below is a selection of his more commonly known publications, or where his work has appeared regularly. This is by no means a complete collection of his work, as it doesn’t include his later work on Kane etc, but does include common reprints.

The link below each image will take you to the images published from that publication, or where more than one issue a further listing of those publications. This is work in progress, so only a few links work at present, but more coming soon!

June on Naughty Nostalgia Covers

A young June appearing on the cover of ‘Naughty Nostalgia’ mini magazines, both clothed and unclothed. These magazines were produced by Nostalgia Publications and were small (5½ x 4 inches) sampler magazines showing off examples of images from Harrison Marks and Spick & Span.  There were 10 mini magazines in total and June appeared on the covers of No.6, 8 and 9, as well as several images inside.

Teri Martine Magazine Covers

A few Teri Martine magazine covers from the late 1960’s, early 70’s, with the bottom three covers all looking like they came from the same photo shoot.

Kamera Special No.4 & No.5 Covers

The cover of Kamera Special No.4 featuring Elaine Desmond perched precariously on some mussel cover rocks!

The cover of Kamera Special No.5 featuring a much happier Jutka Goz as she didn’t have to balance on some dodgy rocks for this shot 🙂

Amber Magazine Covers

Amber Magazine a popular British glamour magazine of the 1950’s and 60’s, featuring the photos of Russell Gay and such great models as Rosina Revelle, Hazel Taylor, Lorraine Burnett, Sally Douglas, June Palmer, Jackie Parker, Margaret Nolan, Molly Peters, Frankie Young etc.  Not as popular as Russell Gays other publication ‘QT’ but still very collectable.

Album Modelstudier Covers

Another different foreign magazine called Album Modelstudier, which was a digest size magazine (6.7 x 9.6 inch) published in Denmark by Forlaget Studia Publications in the late 1950’s and 60’s.
The magazine consisted of 24 pages including covers, with a colour cover and black & white photographs of models in various poses in natural environment.
Again the early issues have models on the covers I don’t recognise, but by issue No.30 onwards they start to get very familiar again 🙂
