Jackie Salt – A Small & Pert Pair! (Original)

The petite and perky Jackie Salt posing on the bed for Harrison Marks in one of the bedrooms of his flat. Several shots of Jackie from this set appeared in Kamera No.61 (1964) including a double page centre spread, although this shot seems to have missed this edition? Having checked the Solo edition featuring Jackie it doesn’t appear there either, but I’m sure a shot like this must have been published somewhere?

Marie Provost – Bedroom Beehive! (Original)

Marie Provost posing in a bedroom of GHM’s flat from a scan of one of my original negatives. The original image of Marie appeared in Kamera No.61 P32 (1964) and I’ve cropped this image to the same proportion as the magazine. I love Marie’s very 1960’s beehive hairstyle, plus the this images is slightly less censored than the magazine version, with just a hint of things showing between her legs, but not much!

June Palmer – Kamera No.61 Cover (1964)

Another great image of June by Harrison Marks on the backstage set on the cover of Kamera No.61 (1964) and one that I also have a negative of the same shot (below). The backstage shoot of June posing with the long black negligee is a very well published and known set that crops up regularly and this shot is one of those well known images. The photo used for the Kamera cover is a wider and much more vibrant shot than the one from the negative, but obviously the negative shot is clearer and the colours restored, so more natural. Great to see both together with the differences for comparison.  The negative was duplicated (Internegative) from an original for selling as part of the June Palmer slide set No.60, so probably the reason it’s cropped more than the cover shot and original.  As an aside, most of the June 35mm negatives you see being sold individually or in sets are probably duplicates of the original negative.

Music To Watch Girls By! (1964)

Maureen Tavenbeck posing in GHM’s Gerrard Street flat from the pages of Kamera No.61 (1964) and holding a Peggy Lee album. It’s actually the 1960 album ‘All Aglow Again’ and starts with one of my favourite tracks from Peggy, ‘Fever’. I’m not actually that big a fan, but both my father and grandfather were and I recently came across her collection of albums and singles they collected over the years. Seeing all those old records was fantastic and they may well be worth something now to a collector!

Wendy Luton – Sexy with Seaweed! (1964)

Wendy Luton posing nude on a sea-weed covered rock from Kamera No.61 (1964). After posing for Harrison Marks and others like this Wendy went on to have a career as a proper model with her clothes on, but under a different name that currently escapes me!
