June Palmer – November 83 Looked a Good Month!

I’ve just been sent this fantastic bit of memorabilia from John W and couldn’t resist editing and posting it! It’s the November page of the 1983 calendar from Duplex Communications and features a fabulous shot of a mature June Palmer basking naked in the sun on the sea edge. I don’t know if this was actually taken in 83 or earlier, but it’s definitely a more mature June with fuller figure.

I remember seeing this type of calendar in workshops and garages back in the day, before it became sexist and started causing offence! They seemed to be everywhere and can remember there being several up around the garage workshop where my dad worked, plus a huge pile of discarded ones in the corner. Just imagine what those calendars would go for now, especially the good ones like Pirelli, Snap-on Tools and Dunlop. Oh for a time machine so I could go back and collect up all those discarded ones in a box to keep for now 🙂

June & Eve – Not Just Nudes & Boobs! (Original)

Another promotional shot by London photo agency Cowderoy & Moss Ltd featuring June Palmer and Eve Eden posing on a couple of Lambretta Scooters with two fellow male models in nice jumpers. Obviously meant to look as though they are riding the scooters as they pose, just a shame you can see the stands are down holding the scooters in place! I love these different shots of June and Eve showing a glamour models life wasn’t all nudes and boobs 🙂

June Palmer – Crossroads To Love (Original)

Another fabulous shot of June Palmer from this set of promotional shots by London photo agency Cowderoy & Moss Ltd featuring June posing on a Lambretta Scooter. This time we see June getting friendly with a male friend sat beside a scooter at a crossroads on the A2. I love the fact the sign post is in the shot as it pinpoints the location as the crossroads on the Hawkhurst Road, where the A21 crosses the A268.

I would also say it was taken at the same location as the shot below of Eve Eden and June for several reasons. It’s the same registration plate on both scooters, June is wearing the same outfit and if you look at the building in the background I’m sure it’s the same door in this Google street view, which is again on the A21/A268 crossroads?

Thanks to John W for a copy of this new print of June at the crossroads 🙂

June Palmer – To Biggin Hill & Back! (Original)

Two classic vintage models in one shot! June Palmer posing on the roof of a vintage Elva Courier out in the countryside, just outside Biggin Hill. At the time this shot was taken Biggin Hill was in Kent, UK, but now sits in the London Borough of Bromley.

June is actually dressed in these shots in a classic tight jumper and white skirt, so not your normal glamour shot, but maybe a couple of snapshots on the road? It’s hard to tell if they were snapshots as June did model with this and another car for this promo shot, but these look like they just stopped at a crossroads and took a few shots posing on the car. At a guess I’d say the location based on the crossroads sign was just off the B2024 near Tatsfield, as one of the signs points towards the local church.

Thanks to John W for these fabulous shots of June and the Elva Courier, not your normal June shots, but still some great memorabilia from back in the 60’s.

June Palmer – Hold This Please? (Original)

Another promotional shot by London photo agency Cowderoy & Moss Ltd featuring June posing on a Lambretta Scooter. This time we see June down at the beach, sat astride the scooter in a fetching pair of striped pants, white cardigan top and scarf, as she hands off her bag to a chap in a beach hut! I always enjoy seeing this different side of June and her non glamour work during the height of her career. It seems like she had enjoyed posing on Scooters and cars a lot 🙂

June Palmer – A Quick Drinks Break! (Original)

We’ve had cigarette’s, now for booze and fast cars! A brilliant shot of June posing for a publicity shot or advert I assume, sat on the back of a vintage car with a glass of wine in hand.

The Grasshopper Inn, which is prominent in the shot still exists today and can be found in Westerham, Kent and is advertised as a privately owned, recently restored, beautiful Tudor building set in the idyllic Kent countryside.  There are many images of the Inn online, but I couldn’t find this particular view, but I’m sure it has changed considerably since then! It is also close to Oxted and I have other shots of June from this same shoot with her sat on the bonnet and roof of the darker vintage car at a crossroads with Oxted on a sign.

The darker car is possibly a Jaguar, as may the white one be, but not 100% sure? A great piece of June Memorabilia that is different from the normal glamour related stuff and a snapshot of things back then.

Update: Thanks to MadMax who sent this message to me – ‘The cars are both Elva Couriers and this looks very like a publicity photoshoot for advertising or brochures. Elva were based in Bexhill, then Hastings so this part of Kent would have been almost on their doorstep.’. Madmax is spot on because if you go to the Elva website there are two colour photo’s taken outside the Grasshopper at the same time as the one above, one even has June in it with the title “Arrive in style and enjoy a glass of ‘warm’ beer and a Babycham for your lady.” – Fantastic and thanks to MadMax.

On further searching I’ve found another shot of June posing in a bikini in a white Elva here, that identifies the car as a 1961 Trojan-built MkIII Elva Courier. I also found ‘Fast Elva Ladies’ Page featuring June in two shots as well here. Which then also led me to this image of June I’d already posted in the now identified car 🙂

I love stumbling across things like this and all from one image 🙂 More images of June and the Elva to come …

June & Eve – More Lambretta Fun! (Original)

When I found this first shot of June and Eve Eden posing on a Lambretta Scooter I had hoped I would find more, but had never found any until now! I saw this shot several weeks ago being sold over on eBay by Teri Martine, but knew it would be popular so never bid on it. Fortunately for me John W did and he won it along with a few others, so I now have a copy to share.

The text that accompanied this image from Teri on eBay suggested that it was June posing on the back of a British Lambretta scooter and was done for the company that made the scooters and quite possible it was used for one of their ads in a magazine. John also sent me some other shots of June posing in the studio on a Lambretta for the company Cowderoy & Moss Ltd, so this could also be for them?

The other model is Eve Eden who did another commercial with June on a scooter and potentially that was the first shot of the two I posted. A fantastic piece of memorabilia and thanks to John for sending me a copy of this image featuring two of my favourite models. Surprisingly the first shot of June and Eve is one of my most popular images and they even had their clothes on!

June Palmer – Down on The Thames Embankment! (Original)

There’s nothing like a day trip out in your best coat and scarf to visit the sights of London! June looking extremely elegant as she poses down on the Thames embankment in white jacket and scarf on 11th August 1963. Sometimes the simplest of images of June are equally as good as the glamour shots and this is one such shot.

I didn’t realize, but I have two other shots of June in this outfit as well as this one 🙂
